The End of Days, Twice
Picture this. Time doesn’t flow as a tunnel like everyone around you says so. It’s sort of like a Möbius strip. When people say history repeats itself, they don’t know that what they’re saying isn’t a metaphor. Everything that has ever happened has happened before, and it will happen again. That’s how the theory goes, anyway—but that’s just a theory. Science hasn’t progressed to the point where time can be measured in such a fashion.
But I digress.

The Sky Man
Kingston wakes up.
He’s lying face-down in a puddle of foul-smelling mud that’s adhering to his face like a plaster mask. Something is gnawing on his foot, something with tiny, sharp teeth that can tear through the leather of his shoe with enough persistence (it isn’t quite there yet, but Kingston has a feeling that if he waited a minute or two longer, it would be). That would be bad, if this horrific mud is any indication of his surroundings. Kingston props himself up on his elbows, hissing in pain. His chest stings and aches. Broken ribs, maybe. That would also be bad.

the one omitted part from the ext. exis. of wall cheese
for the story project we were allowed to omit one of our four parts. i kicked this one out because, honestly, IT IS GARBAGE. but, well, i figured i’d immortalize it forever on a blog nobody really reads. this is unedited, so some things are inconsistent from the finished product. honestly, i should have kept the part about wall’s name, but whatever.
Your name is Hyacinth Kennedy, and you are very, very angry. I’m not talking about a specific scenario here—you are angry about everything. Your day is not complete until you sashay off the handle and shout abuse at a small talking monkey. You see, on the island of Syja, the small talking monkey is considered property, and your dead best friend left him to you in her will. Who are you to refuse such a request?

sci-fi scenario two - “tech”
Prompt: Create a piece of technology that is not yet invented. (IE something that regenerates life from the dead). Describe how it works. Some ideas: Flying motorcycle that runs on air, mind-control, pain-erasing prescription, human clones, “parts” harvest shops, instant plastic surgery, a powerful not-yet-realized weapon… How could this invention be used for good? For evil?
(Word-for-word verbatim, punctuation included).
the new technology is “the ray”. it has been discovered that the energy of humans can be manipulated to give them temporary superpowers like telekinesis or invisibility. a company has developed a laser that can modify this energy accordingly. powers last for up to 10 days. it costs $50k a shot, and you can only be shot once every six months, as it takes a while for you body to convert your energy back to normal. think of the energy like the mutants in x-men. there is no magic involved, only science. dang, that’s a lame comparison, but it works.
god these are awful luckily this is the last scenario
sci-fi scenario one - “fast forward”
Prompt: Imagine a switch or lever; click or move it to the “off” position. Allow this switch to disconnect something we know to exist in natural law. Gravity? Ability to hear? The force field that holds in our oxygen? That keeps out water like a dam? Your choice. Describe this reaction and what happens. Consider how access to the switch might be useful? Harmful? Perhaps there will be a quest to seek its switch back to “on”?
(Word-for-word verbatim including punctuation.)
the switch-lever (push down, then pull) is a very unassuming switch behind a very unassuming door in a very unassuming place. the door can only be seen through blue-red 3D glasses, and even then the outline is faint. the room is small with only the switch-lever and a video monitor trained on a busy area in a large city. the floor and walls are nondescript concrete, and the switch-lever is yellow. The “on” position is up whereas the “off” position is down.
pulling the switch-lever causes people to move and think at twice the rate they usually do, sort of like they’re moving in fast-forward. however, people with the AB- blood type are not affected. that is very few people, as AB- is the rarest blood type.
most people do not notice, but the AB- people certainly do. the world is suddenly a substantially more difficult place to live. nobody knows how to fix it, so a science nerd and her glowing pet rabbit “take the case” and set out to make everything normal again. she puts up an ad on craigslist and various blogs asking for help. the guy who flipped the switch responds. they try to find the door, but it has been moved. there are shenanigans that i have yet to think up, but they eventually find the switch and fix everything. HAPPY END
i will never write this lmao
i actually like this though i wish it were longer
samson is this dude in the bible that killed 1000 people with the jawbone of a donkey and i wanted to do something related
and the river lethe is a jawn in the underworld and if you drink from it you forget ERRYTHING about your life (some say so you can be reincarnated but i think thats iffy)
[photo because tumblr wouldn’t preserve the formatting]
[lmao i kept forgetting the “where” and cutting it off]
unknown were they
we’re talking about two people that got lost in the darkness
and found one another as they grappled blindly for the light-switch
because you don’t really know how much you have until it’s gone
leaving a gaping hole in your life that hovers in your peripheral vision
ABSOLUTE FUCKING GARBAGE OH MY GOD
LIKE OK THE LINES ARE GR8 BUT
IDK
SOMETHING
ABOUT IT IS AWFUL AND I CANT STAND IT AUGH MAKE IT GO AWAY
